On Saturday, November 22, Praça Metódio Fernandes da Costa, in São Vicente (RN), was the scene of a special night. The municipality received the Ouro Preto Orchestra, one of the most renowned in the country, for the concert “Gonzagão: Concerto for Strings and Trio Pé de Serra”, a vibrant tribute to the work of Luiz Gonzaga, which brought together approximately 1000 people.

The Orchestra’s tribute to the King of Baião has enchanted audiences from North to South of Brazil, always with crowded performances marked by the enthusiasm of the public. On stage, the musicians of the Ouro Preto Orchestra performed alongside an authentic trio pé de serra, preserving the essence and originality of Gonzagão’s songs, already rooted in the Brazilian cultural imagination.

The opening was in charge of the Manoel Faustino da Costa Philharmonic, a civil band that is part of the Band Support Center of the Ouro Preto Orchestra. This project has the support of the company via the Childhood Fund, trains musical corporations in the interior of Brazil, preserves the musical tradition and acts as a talent incubator. The entire event was held through the sponsorship of Aliança Energia, via the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture (Rouanet Law).

Among those present, many residents were moved by the presentation. Ednalva Santos, a resident of Lagoa Nova, shared her experience: “it was very important to me, it meant a lot in my life. I didn’t know what an orchestra was like and I didn’t imagine it was like that. I was moved. They played songs that calm people’s minds, calm their hearts. An orchestra that plays very well. I loved it and it was a dream come true to see the Ouro Preto Orchestra.”

The mayor of São Vicente, Jane Maria Soares de Medeiros, also expressed her gratitude: “I thank Aliança and the partnership with this wonderful band for this beautiful show in a public square. I thank our Vincentians. On behalf of all, I thank everyone who came to honor this beautiful night. Thank you very much from the heart. The party comes, and the Orchestra arrives with that determination to show São Vicente that they know how to put on a show for everyone.”

Resident Irineu Alex, from São Vicente, celebrated the presentation: “thank you very much for this gift to the city. It was a show! I already knew it would be good, but it was better than I thought!”
