In October, the Cattle Farming Project was started, with the support of Aliança Energia, developed in partnership with SEBRAE and the Baixa do Sítio Residents’ Association, in the municipality of São Vicente (RN), a community located around the Acauã Wind Complex. The project aims to improve the productivity and quality of dairy cattle herds, through specialized technical assistance and the use of reproductive biotechnologies, promoting direct benefits to local producers.
The region has been standing out in family milk production, especially in small properties with animals with high productive potential. The company, however, recognizes the need for continuous technical monitoring to increase producers’ income and contribute to the fight against rural exodus.
The project seeks to strengthen the dairy cattle chain in the region through a set of integrated actions. Among them, the performance of monthly technical consultancies, the promotion of training in good milking practices, nutritional, sanitary and reproductive management, in addition to the implementation of Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (TAI) protocols stand out. The project also provides for the establishment of sanitary calendars, the evaluation of zootechnical indicators, the performance of semiannual milk analyses and the provision of continuous technical support to producers, ensuring permanent monitoring and guidance for the improvement of local milk production.
With these actions, the project hopes to achieve good results, such as increasing the pregnancy rate, reducing the interval between calvings and increasing milk production and quality. The project also seeks to increase family income, reduce animal health costs and sustainability, through adherence to good agricultural practices, contributing to the reduction of rural exodus and family milk production in the region.
During the opening meeting, held with SEBRAE producers and consultants, the first productive exchange visit took place, in which the participants visited a farm in the municipality of Tenente Laurentino Cruz. The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate, in practice, the potential of the results that the project can provide.
In line with the company’s purpose “Energies that drive lives”, Gustavo Xavier, Aliança Community Relations analyst, highlights: “this project reinforces Aliança’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and generating opportunities for rural producers in the Acauã region. The initiative offers technical support and specialized follow-up to those who often do not have adequate resources or guidance to expand their activities.”
According to Vlademir Barbosa de Medeiros, zootechnician and one of the SEBRAE consultants who works in the project, “the continued technical assistance, with monthly visits, has as its main objective to help producers achieve greater productivity, improving production rates and milk quality through laboratory analysis and reproductive control of the herd. With this, we hope that they will be able to reduce production costs, increase profitability and remain in the rural properties where they were born and raised.”
The project’s actions are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with emphasis on SDG 1 – Poverty Eradication, SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.
For Aliança, the project represents another step in the consolidation of strategic partnerships and the promotion of social responsibility, expanding the company’s presence and contribution to the sustainable growth of the local community, generating benefits in the lives of families and in family milk production in the region.
