Between February 9 and 12, the directors of Atlas Renewable Energy, Mark Green, Clerton Braga and Ricardo Batista Mendes, carried out a technical visit to the Eliezer Batista hydroelectric plants (UHE Aimorés) and Risoleta Neves, managed by Aliança Energia.

At the Aimorés HPP, inaugurated in 2006 and with an installed capacity of 330 MW, the directors toured the main structures of the plant, with emphasis on the powerhouse, the galleries, the dam, the spillway, the Fish Transposition System (STP), the Reduced Flow Stretch (TVR) and the Botanical Park.

At the Risoleta Neves HPP, inaugurated in 2004 and with an installed capacity of 140 MW, the directors had the same opportunity and visited the dam, the reservoir, the spillway, drainage galleries and the Power House.

Atlas executives were welcomed by Carlos Pavanelli, director of operations and engineering at Aliança, accompanied by managers Marcos Liberato, Sandro Horta and Marcelo Werly; by the engineering coordinators Leonardo Aquino, Lucas Resende and Gustavo Palmieri; by the plant coordinators Adilison Melo (Aimorés HPP) and Eduardo Coelho (Risoleta Neves HPP); by Flávio Vieira, health and safety coordinator; by Joseane Viola, coordinator of community relations and social innovation; by Daiany Martinelli, communication and digital media consultant; and by Gilberto Nogueira, O&M supervisor (Aimorés HPP).

During the visit, the Aliança team had the opportunity to present the organization of its operations that guarantee high levels of availability of the plants and also highlighted technical aspects related to the ongoing renovations and modernizations. The perceptions of the visitors reinforced the importance of operational efficiency combined with technological innovation and socio-environmental responsibility.

Marcos Liberato, engineering manager at Aliança Energia, highlighted: “we had the opportunity, in these three days of visit to the Aimorés and Risoleta Neves units, to show Atlas what are the initiatives that are being carried out today by engineering and operations related to technological innovations, as well as to show the current pipeline related to the planning of reforms and modernizations that are underway at Aliança.”

Sandro Horta, manager of hydroelectric plants, pointed out that “the cleanliness and organization of the plants was a point observed by the visitors and explained that this maintenance base is one of the factors that favor the good availability rates achieved in the plants, in addition to a quality standard of all the organization’s assets”.

Atlas acts as the operation and management arm of the investor Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), which in 2025 became the majority shareholder of Aliança Energia by, acquiring 70% of the company.

The visit to the Aimorés and Risoleta Neves plants endorsed the role of Aliança Energia as a reference in the operation of hydroelectric generation assets for Atlas on a sector that is now strategically part of GIP’s portfolio of operations.
