In 2016, Aliança Energia established the Innovation Committee, an internal committee responsible for prospecting, selecting, and monitoring Research and Development projects, following ANEEL’s current legislation.

In 2023, Aliança Energia maintained the execution of the three projects linked to research promotion contracts, signed with researchers/executors in 2017 and 2020. Both 2017 projects were renewed in 2023, according to ANEEL rules and guidelines, in order to allow the completion of activities within a period longer than the regulatory 60 months. These initiatives total around R$ 48 million in investments during the 2017-2024 cycle.

The company also maintained continuous prospecting for new proposals, evaluating and selecting potential projects for future years with a focus on the following topics: Alternative Sources of Electricity Generation (FA); Management of Basins and Reservoirs (GB); Environment (MA); Planning of Electric Power Systems (PL); Operation of Electric Power Systems (OP). In October 2023, the new P&D ANEEL legislation came into force, and Aliança Energia has has been working since then to adapt to the new IDP procedures.
