The Santo Inácio Wind Complex, also known as CESI, is the first wind energy plant operated by Aliança Energia. Located in the municipality of Icapuí, in Ceará, it is composed of the São Raimundo, Santo Inácio III, Santo Inácio IV and Garrote Wind Power Plants. Together they have 47 wind turbines, each measuring 120 meters in height, with blades of 57 meters and a capacity of 2.1MW each. The total installed capacity of CESI is 98.7 MW and full commercial operation began on December 12, 2017.

At the Gravier Wind Power Plant, also located in Icapuí, full operation began on December 30, 2022 from the 17 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2 MW and a total of 71.4 MW of installed power.

With the operation of CESI and Gravier, the Aliança Generator Park has 1,328 MW of installed capacity, 170.1 MW of which in Icapuí alone, further increasing the share of wind energy in the Brazilian energy matrix and contributing to the quality of life of the local population.

Wind turbines

The wind turbines of the Santo Inácio Wind Complex and the Gravier Wind Power Plant are of the type with a horizontal axis. Its structure is inspired by windmills and wind vanes, chosen by Aliança for having greater efficiency in energy generation than the other alternative, with a vertical axis.

Nacelle

It is the heaviest structure of the wind turbine, where the rotor and the blades are attached to it. It is located at the top of the tower and receives the main components such as the gearbox, the generator, the chassis and the yaw (responsible for electronic control) and hydraulic systems, in addition to the brakes, clutch and bearings.

Transmission Lines

The energy produced at CESI and Gravier is interconnected to the SIN – National Interconnected System – through CHESF’s substation (SE), Mossoró IV, via a 9 km 230 kV transmission line.

Tower

The largest component of the wind turbine, responsible for supporting the rotor, nacelle and blades. At the Santo Inácio Wind Complex and at the Gravier Wind Power Plant, the wind turbine towers are built in concrete.

Paddles

They are responsible for capturing the mechanical energy of the wind, converting its power to the rotor. The structure of the blades is made with materials such as plastic – mainly epoxy and polyester – and fiberglass.
