In July, Aliança Energia promoted two actions in the community of Viana, in Santa Cruz do Escalvado (MG), a municipality neighboring the Risoleta Neves HPP, as part of the initiatives of the Andorinha Project, aimed at encouraging reading and expanding access to books. In partnership with the Viana Community Association, the meetings brought together residents in moments of learning, culture, exchange of experiences and environmental education, strengthening initiatives aimed at the development and integration of the community.

On July 18, a storytelling event about local biodiversity was held, which was attended by approximately 30 people. The activity was conducted by Marina Vilela, from the company Cidadão da Mata, and had as its central character the Aurita, known as the dusky marmoset, a primate present in the territory.

During the meeting, participants followed a story about the species, carried out coloring activities and watched videos that showed the primate in its habitat. Curiosities about the region’s biodiversity and information on ways to contribute to the conservation of native species were also shared.

The activity aimed to encourage attitudes of respect, care and protection of the ecosystems and species that are part of the region, contributing to the environmental awareness of the community.

On July 25, a meeting was held especially for adolescents and adults, with the participation of about 15 people. The activity was attended by the writer Miracy Real, who led a conversation about vision of the future and the importance of reading as an instrument of growth and transformation.

The meeting included a lecture, conversation circle, logic and reasoning exercises and a loan of books to the community. The proposal was to encourage better choices through knowledge and reading, valuing the potential of each participant and creating a space for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

A new perception of reading was also worked on, understood as a way of interpreting the world, its different manifestations and situations. The action sought to offer a positive alternative for idle time, combining knowledge, coexistence and leisure.

For Maria do Carmo, creator of the Andorinha Project, the meeting with the writer was marked by generosity and inspiration.

“We had the joy of receiving the writer Miracy Real, who shared her experience, her trajectory and her books with a sympathy and generosity that enchanted everyone present”, he highlighted.

Maria also stressed the importance of partnerships for the realization of the initiative, especially the support of Aliança Energia and the Community Association of Viana, which hosted the event and made its headquarters available. According to her, the Andorinha Project believes that “reading transforms lives, broadens horizons and inspires new stories”.

Writer Miracy Real also positively evaluated the experience. As the leader of the activities with the group, she said she was very satisfied with the participation and suggested the holding of new meetings for the development of socio-pedagogical activities. For her, the continuity of the program can contribute to achieving the objectives of the Andorinha Project and gradually expand the number of participants.

Aliança Energia’s initiatives are aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contribute directly to SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 15 – Life on Land and SDG 17 – Partnerships and Means of Implementation.

Aliança Energia continues to build new possibilities with the community, with the expectation that the meetings held will be seeds for other actions and for the increasing strengthening of community participation.
