The International Day of Biodiversity, celebrated this Friday, May 22, is an invitation to reflect on how life on the planet is linked to the balance of nature. Created by the UN, the date highlights the importance of preserving biological diversity in all ecosystems and reminds us that the Earth is everyone’s only home.
Biodiversity ensures clean water, healthy food and clean air; When it is affected, the impacts are felt by the whole society.
Aliança Energia, socio-environmental responsibility is present in actions and initiatives always connected to sustainable development. Among the projects developed are reforestation actions, fauna conservation, monitoring of the water quality of reservoirs and recovery of degraded areas, contributing to the preservation of terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity.
In addition, environmental education is an important ally in this work. Through visits to the plants and programs carried out in schools in the municipalities surrounding the projects, Aliança Energia seeks to bring children, young people and communities closer to the importance of environmental preservation.
As highlighted by Aliança Energia’s Community Relations analyst, Tatiana Siqueira:
“The actions developed by Aliança Energia in celebration of Biodiversity Day reinforce the importance of bringing children, young people and communities closer to environmental issues in a practical and participatory way. Through trails, sensory activities, revitalization of school gardens and educational visits, we seek to show that biodiversity is present in our daily lives and is essential for the balance of life. These initiatives contribute to awakening the protagonism of students and strengthening awareness about the need to preserve natural resources and adopt sustainable practices.”
The actions related to Biodiversity Day take place at Aliança Energia’s units and demonstrate how caring for the environment can transform realities. Check it out:
