On March 8, International Women’s Day is celebrated, a date that goes beyond tributes. For Aliança, it is a moment to recognize the determination and competence of women, who are gaining more and more space in the labor market and who, within the company, contribute to the growth, innovation and results of the teams, reinforcing the importance of their presence, performance and contribution on a daily basis.

Within this context, Aliança Energia is proud to have women who stand out for their protagonism and ability to transform ideas into results. Among them is engineer Ana Paula Marcelino, whose trajectory inspires by determination and dedication.

From an early age, Ana Paula showed an affinity for numbers. Passionate about mathematics, she initially thought about pursuing a career as a teacher. When evaluating her undergraduate options, she decided to consider engineering, even though she was afraid to enter a traditionally male-dominated field. As she recalls: “I was really afraid”. To her surprise, about 40% of the class was made up of women, which strengthened her confidence and showed that that space could also be occupied by women.

For Ana Paula, expanding the female presence in engineering and in all professional areas is fundamental, not only for a gender issue, but because women are fully qualified to perform their functions with competence and efficiency. Representation also plays an important role: when girls see women occupying these spaces, they start to believe that they can also get there. With each generation, a little more progress is made, breaking barriers and prejudices that for a long time questioned women’s capacity. She also reinforces that the talent and dedication of each woman are capable of transforming careers, projects and teams, and that believing in one’s own potential is what allows them to achieve great achievements.

At Aliança, Ana Paula highlights that she has always found an environment of respect and recognition. In her experience in the company’s engineering, she never felt treated differently because she was a woman. She has always been recognized as a professional, with her qualities and limitations, just like any other member of the team, which is why she feels proud and happy to be part of the team.

Aliança Energia wishes all its employees a Happy International Women’s Day.
