On September 4, Aliança Energia held the Annual Fauna Technical Meeting at the Maria Antônia de Lima Municipal School, located in the Acauã Settlement, a community surrounding the Acauã Wind Complex (RN), with the participation of 34 people. During the meeting, the main results of the Fauna Monitoring Program carried out at the project were presented.
Participating in the activity were Aliança Energia’s Environmental analyst Andreza Bezerra, Gerciana Silva, a service provider in the Community Relations area of Aliança Energia, and biologist Caio Paiva, from Biometria, a company hired to monitor the fauna found in the area (species of reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds).
During the meeting, information was presented on the characterization of the fauna of the Acauã Wind Complex, in addition to the objectives, justification and methodology used in the monitoring program. The main results obtained from the monitoring of the species recorded in the area were also shared.
The program also included a conversation about hunting and animal trafficking, addressing the impacts of these practices on fauna populations and natural environments. The participation of the community also made it possible to exchange knowledge and information about the presence and monitoring of species in the region.
For Andreza Bezerra, Environmental Analyst at Aliança Energia, the meeting was an opportunity to bring the community closer to information about the fauna present in the territory:
“Most of the students showed a lot of enthusiasm about the topic, and we had a significant participation, especially in relation to the herpetofauna group, which encompasses snakes of medical importance (pit vipers, rattlesnakes, coral, among others). They answered many questions and presented several experience reports. It was a very opportune moment to demystify some beliefs and contribute to the preservation of species, after all they all have their importance for maintaining the balance of ecosystems.”
With the meeting, Aliança Energia took the results of the monitoring closer to the community and talked about the species present in the surroundings of the Acauã Wind Complex and the importance of taking care of the region’s fauna.
