Aliança Energia strengthens social participation in communities surrounding the Risoleta Neves HPP

Rio Doce Workshops Cover

Between March 30 and April 1, Aliança held workshops of its Environmental Education Program in the communities of Merengo, Santa Cruz do Escalvado and Rio Doce, in Minas Gerais, cities neighboring the Risoleta Neves HPP.

The theme “Social Organization: Strengthening and Participation” was worked through activities aimed at the exchange of experiences among participants, the identification of local demands and the collective construction of paths for action in these territories. Throughout the workshops, conversation circles, group dialogues and listening moments were promoted, with the aim of understanding how residents organize themselves and what are the main challenges faced in the communities

Training on tax incentive mechanisms was also held. At this time, the operation of the instruments for transferring resources, the performance of the Councils and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), as well as guidelines on how to access and monitor these processes were addressed. Aliança Energia’s performance in the municipalities was also presented, focusing on the relationship with local initiatives.

By promoting these workshops, Aliança Energia reinforces its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with emphasis on SDG 4 – Quality Education, by encouraging training processes and access to information.

Aliança Energia believes that continuous dialogue with communities, strengthens social participation, creates more solid foundations for joint construction in their territories.
