On September 23, the Quilombola Museum of Macambira held the III Literary Meeting, in Lagoa Nova (RN), with the participation of about 70 children from the João Luiz and Monsenhor Paulo Herôncio Municipal Schools, both located in the area of influence of the Acauã Wind Complex. The initiative was sponsored by Aliança Energia, through the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture.

Held in the morning and afternoon, the meeting brought together reading, storytelling and production activities of Abayomi Dolls. The program brought children closer to books and different ways of telling and preserving stories, relating literature to the cultural manifestations present in the territory.

During the meeting, the participants also had contact with local works and authors. Edivaldo Marinho and Márcia Araújo led the storytelling activities, and Márcia presented the work “A Princesa Akosua”, of her authorship that addresses representativeness, ancestry and Afro-Brazilian culture.

Another moment of the program was the Abayomi Dolls workshop, conducted by Edivaldo Marinho and Macioneide da Silva Lima. The children learned about the history of these dolls made with fabric scraps and participated in the production, getting in touch with themes related to memory, identity and culture.

With this sponsorship, Aliança Energia is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, especially SDG 4 – Quality Education.

For Aliança Energia, supporting cultural initiatives is also a way of being close to the communities where it operates. The company believes that access to culture and education opens paths for new learning and helps to keep the stories, knowledge and traditions of each territory alive.
