On March 27, the Risoleta Neves HPP, located in the municipality of Rio Doce (MG), held the monthly HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) meeting. The event brought together own employees and third parties and had as its special theme “Venomous Animals”, reinforcing the importance of prevention and care in the workplace.
At the opening of the meeting, the coordinator of the plant, Eduardo Coelho, highlighted the milestone of more than 1200 days without accidents with lost time, evidencing the unit’s commitment to safety. Then, he welcomed the new employees of the company Emflortec, which operates in the reforestation areas of the plant.

In addition, the coordinator highlighted initiatives such as the adoption of good practices and the right to refuse, as well as presented news for the next meetings, which will now have moments dedicated to CIPA and the Social Responsibility and Environment teams, strengthening integration and the preventive culture in the unit.
Subsequently, the safety indicators for the month of March were presented, with emphasis on the Hazard Hunting Program (FOCAPE), Aliança Energia1s Environmental Policy and the joint actions to be developed by the Environment and Community Relations teams, provided for in the Participatory Socio-Environmental Diagnosis (DSP) of the facility.

Moving on to the special theme, environmental analyst Bruno Marques addressed Golden Rule No. 6 – Venomous Animals, created for operational activities and aimed at the care to be adopted during the circulation of people in internal areas, as well as the identification and removal of bees, wasps and hornnets. The topic focused on snake-related risks, due to the significant increase in records in the area where the plant is located. The collaborator presented relevant points about the identification and behavior of these animals, warning about the risks and what to do in case of bites.
Complementing Bruno’s speech, the meeting was also attended by service providers Airton Mól and Jurandy Sotero, from the company Viçoserv, who reinforced the importance of the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the prevention of accidents, as well as the appropriate procedures for the safe capture and release of these animals.

The meeting ended with a tribute to the birthdays of the month.

With this initiative, by promoting safe and integration practices among employees, Aliança builds a safer and more participatory work environment, reinforcing, in practice, its main value: ‘Life first’.
