On June 25, the Quilombola Museum of Macambira promoted the community’s São João in front of its headquarters. With the sponsorship of Aliança Energia to the museum, through the Culture Incentive Law, the initiative brought together residents, leaders and cultural groups in a night dedicated to the appreciation of quilombola customs, memory and identity.

About 120 people participated in the program, marked by music, dance, cultural presentations and the traditional June gang. The party also featured typical food and drink stalls, providing moments of conviviality and celebrating knowledge transmitted between generations.

Gerciana Silva, Aliança Energia’s service provider in the area of Community Relations, highlights the importance of the initiative:

“São João da Macambira represents the history, identity and knowledge of the community. Supporting this celebration is recognizing the richness of quilombola culture and contributing to these traditions continuing to be transmitted and experienced by the next generations. It also strengthens our relationship of partnership and dialogue with the communities.”

The resident of the Quilombola Community of Macambira, Maria das Graças, shared her experience during the celebration and highlighted the atmosphere of joy and participation that marked the party:

“It was very good. I ate several typical foods, there were a lot of people dancing, the presentations were very beautiful and colorful, and there was an improvised square dance in which I participated. It was very lively. I liked it a lot.”

Aliança Energia’s sponsorship of the Macambira Quilombola Museum is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), with emphasis on SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17 – Partnerships and Means of Implementation.

With this, the company contributes to the continuity of the cultural manifestations of the quilombola community, allowing this tradition to continue to be celebrated and transmitted by the next generations.
