On August 29, about 80 volunteers, including their own employees, third parties and family members, came together in different locations to participate in Aliança Voluntari Day. Held in celebration of National Volunteer Day, celebrated on August 28, the initiative promoted moments of solidarity, integration and care in the communities where Aliança Energia is present.

In each region, the company found a way to contribute. The activities were defined based on the needs of each location and involved visits to institutions that welcome the elderly, children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability, support for animal protection associations, sports activities and moments of integration with young people from the communities.

There was also mobilization to collect essential items, such as toys, food, cleaning materials and hygiene products. In addition to donations, moments of coexistence and exchange were promoted, with conversation circles, musical performances to the sound of guitar and recreational activities, such as bingo.

Aliança Voluntaria Day is an opportunity to put into practice values that are part of Aliança Energia’s way of acting. When time is dedicated to the other, small gestures take on new meanings. A visit, a conversation, a donation or a soccer match can strengthen relationships and make a difference in the lives of those who participate.

One day, different stories!

In each unit, the Aliança Voluntário Day took on a different form. The volunteers learned about new stories, shared experiences and left their contribution, but also took with them lessons learned and moments that will remain in the memory.

In Belo Horizonte, the initiative was held at Casa Lucas, with the aim of bringing joy to children removed from situations of social vulnerability. For this, cleaning materials and personal hygiene items were collected, in addition to the participation of recreationists, who provided moments of fun, coexistence and integration.

At the João Pinheiro Home, maintained by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, in Jaíba, moments of coexistence and integration with the elderly served by the institution were promoted, including conversation circles, musical performances, recreational bingo and delivery of souvenirs. Fruits were also donated for the morning snack, respecting the dietary restrictions of the home. In addition, disposable diapers and personal hygiene items were collected and donated, contributing to the well-being and quality of life of the residents.

For Guilherme Silva, Aliança Energia’s service provider in the area of Community Relations, who participated in the action for the first time, the experience was marked by exchange and connection:

“More than a volunteer action, this was a moment of exchange of experiences, affection and human connection. Seeing the involvement of Aliança Energia’s employees and the joy provided to the elderly reinforces the importance of initiatives that promote solidarity and strengthen the ties between the company and the community. In addition to the donations collected, the greatest result was to provide attention, listening and moments of happiness to the residents of Lar João Pinheiro.”

Participating in a volunteer action is also being available to listen, share, and learn. It is getting out of the routine, getting to know new realities, and recognizing that we all have something to offer.

For Luiza Guerra, Trading Analyst at Aliança Energia and president of the Volunteer Committee, the experience represents an opportunity to look at the other and realize the impact we can generate:

“The actions of Aliança Voluntari Day are a precious invitation to look inside ourselves and recognize the potential we have to make other people’s lives lighter and happier.

We are removed from our tasks and our concerns to see the other, who asks for help, attention, company and care. We donate our time and resources and receive, in return, something that nothing can buy: empathy, solidarity, an attentive look and love for others.

Each action reached different hearts and contributed to making the world a happier place!”

The Community Relations analyst, Maria Rodrigues, also shared her experience:

“It was very special to participate, once again, in the Aliança Voluntário Day. Volunteering takes us out of the technical routine of the plant and brings us closer to the local reality in a humane and welcoming way. Knowing that our internal mobilization has been transformed into food on the table and sports materials for young people fills us with pride. We leave an action like this with a full heart and with the certainty that, together, we can make a difference.”

Aliança Voluntário Day showed that volunteering is being present, looking at others carefully and transforming disposition into attitudes that make sense for each community. Throughout the actions, participants shared experiences, learned from different realities and realized that, when there is joint mobilization, the impact can go even further.

The initiatives are also aligned with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Reduction of Inequalities (SDG 10), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Partnerships and Means of Implementation (SDG 17).

And this mobilization continues. On September 4, an action will be held in Aimorés (MG), with the delivery of donations to the Pro-Animal Association of Baixo Guandu (ES). On September 11, the Acauã Wind Complex (RN) will receive a volunteer action. The program will feature a movie session prepared for children and adolescents from an institution in Currais Novos, providing moments of coexistence, fun and integration.

The participation of volunteers reinforces that Aliança Energia’s energy is also in care, solidarity and willingness to make a difference. The initiative contributes to transforming realities in the communities where the company is present and strengthening what connects the organization to people.
