In March 2026, Aliança Energia celebrated another relevant milestone for its operations: the Amador Aguiar I and II HPPs, located on the Araguari River, between the municipalities of Uberlândia and Araguari, in the Triângulo Mineiro, received the Operating License (LO) issued by Ibama, valid for 10 years. The plants are part of the company’s generating complex, in which Aliança Energia holds an 87.4% stake in the consortium responsible for the administration.
Ibama, as the federal agency responsible for the environmental licensing of enterprises, evaluates environmental studies, verifies compliance with the conditions defined in the previous stages of licensing, and authorizes the operation only when compliance with current legislation and environmental protection standards is proven. The issuance of the LO confirms that the projects meet all the necessary requirements to operate safely, responsibly and fully in line with federal environmental guidelines.
According to Walter Alves, manager at the Capim Branco Energia consortium (CCBE), responsible for the operation of the plants, “LO consolidates a journey that began in 2019, with the renewal process still at the state level, which in 2023 started to be conducted by Ibama. The result reflects years of dedication by the CCBE team and the important institutional articulation with the federal agency. From now on, an even more challenging stage begins, which will require greater responsibility, dedication and maintenance of the level of excellence in socio-environmental management.”
More than complying with a regulatory requirement, obtaining the LO inaugurates a new cycle for these projects, with stricter standards of socio-environmental management, reinforcing Aliança Energia’s commitment to safe, responsible operation in line with the best environmental practices. The challenge now is to maintain the level of excellence achieved and ensure full compliance throughout the entire term of the license.
