On May 28, Aliança Energia, in partnership with Vale, held a ceremony to certify and present the results of the social projects developed in the communities surrounding the Sol do Cerrado Photovoltaic Plant, in Jaíba (MG). The event took place at the headquarters of the Lajeado do Alto Community Association and was attended by representatives of the public sector, local communities, the company and Vale. The projects, previously supported by Vale, became part of the territory where Aliança Energia operates.
22 Embrapa Systems were delivered to the communities of Lajeado do Cruzamento, Lajeado do Meio and Lajeado do Alto. This technology, developed to support small farmers, integrates different productive activities in the same area, focusing on food production, income generation, and efficient use of available resources.
The model includes complementary modules: raising laying hens for egg production; tilapia tank for protein production and income generation; vegetable garden and fruit orchard, expanding the supply of food and marketing opportunities.
In addition to the implementation of the Sisteminhas, courses were promoted in Fish Farming, Laying Bird Breeding, Citrus Management, Vegetable Garden, Composting and Business Administration for residents of the communities. In recognition of the participation and dedication of the students, the ceremony of delivery of the certificates of completion of the courses was also held on the 28th.
According to Marly Medeiros, president of the Lajeado do Meio Community Association, the project brought changes in the food and income of families.
“Before, the diet was mainly based on rice and beans. Today, families also have access to eggs, fish and vegetables produced in the system. The commercialization of production also began to complement family income.”

So far, the projects have already benefited the families of the communities of Lajeados with the implementation of 30 Sisteminhas – Embrapa’s model, the construction of 35 bathrooms and the holding of training courses for 30 residents.
The toilets were implemented in the community of Lajeado do Cruzamento, expanding access to sanitation and contributing to better health conditions and quality of life for the families served. The initiatives have been promoting advances in food security, income generation and professional qualification, strengthening the sustainable development of communities.

Cristina Freire, Vale’s Territory Director, highlights the impacts of the projects on the lives of the communities served:
“Today we are visiting two projects: one for the bathrooms and the other for the system. These two projects are revolutionizing the lives of these people, because we are talking about sanitation and health. These projects, in addition to feeding, generate income for these families. More than that, they are simple initiatives that are transforming the lives of these people.”
About the purpose and commitment of Aliança Energia to the communities, the Social Responsibility and Communication manager, Marcelo Werly, says:
“We have as a business to generate energy, but as a purpose to boost lives. Seeing that communities are already benefiting from training and productive projects makes us believe in the future.”
The actions contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with emphasis on SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture and SDG 6 – Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The delivery of the projects consolidates the continuity of social actions in the territory where Aliança Energia operates and contributes to local development, productive inclusion and the improvement of family farming.
