Between June 15 and 19, Aliança Energia carried out a face-to-face communication action, in partnership with the Civil Defenses of Rio Doce and Santa Cruz do Escalvado, in the communities of Santana do Deserto and Merengo, neighboring the Risoleta Neves HPP, in Rio Doce (MG). Approximately 80 residences were visited for the delivery of the Emergency Action Plan (PAE) folders.

The PAE brings together the procedures to guide the population and the responsible agencies in case of an eventual emergency involving the dam. During the visits, the main information of the plan was presented, doubts about safety measures were clarified and the importance of knowing the established protocols was reinforced.

The teams explained how the alert system works, the purpose of the sirens and the actions that must be taken if they are triggered. They also shared information about the safety conditions of the dam, the monitoring carried out by the plant, the PROX application, which brings together alerts, communication channels, and the role of Civil Defense in prevention and response actions.

Cleber Passos Teixeira, Superintendent of Protection and Civil Defense of Rio Doce, stressed the importance of the action:

“The Civil Defense of Rio Doce participated in the distribution of informative folders in the community of Santana do Deserto, reinforcing its commitment to prevention and awareness of the population. The action aimed to guide residents on safety measures, risk prevention and procedures to be adopted in emergencies, strengthening the culture of protection and the approximation between Civil Defense and the community.

For Aliança Energia’s Community Relations analyst, Iany Albergaria, initiatives like this contribute to maintaining dialogue with residents and providing important information about safety procedures.

“The contact with residents is an opportunity to clarify doubts, reinforce the guidelines of the Emergency Action Plan and show that the safety of the dam is continuously monitored. This contact helps the community to know the procedures provided for and know how to act if necessary”

The initiative contributed to the residents knowing the procedures of the PAE and being prepared to act appropriately in an eventual emergency.
