In 2023, the Macambira Quilombola Museum was inaugurated, in Lagoa Nova (RN), near the Acauã Wind Complex. The project, made possible by Aliança Energia through the Culture Incentive Law, made it possible to renovate and adapt the space to house the collection of historical objects and artifacts of the quilombola community, starting the actions of preservation and dissemination of local culture.
Since opening, the museum has promoted exhibitions, festivals and technical visits, aimed at sociobiodiversity and strengthening the identity of the quilombola community. The space has consolidated itself as a central point for pedagogical tourism and for the dissemination of Afro-Brazilian culture in the region.
In 2024, the museum received 4,708 visitors, including community residents, students from the municipal school system and students from federal universities, consolidating itself as a destination for pedagogical visits and field activities. In 2025, the number of visitors reached 6,076, increasing the presence of educational institutions and maintaining the continuous flow of public throughout the year.

Visitation and impact indicators

For 2026, the goal is to expand the museum’s reach and intensify the participation of schools and other institutions.
According to Vilmário Cândido, president of the community’s Residents’ Association, the museum represents a great achievement: “for us, the Macambira Community Museum is a blessing, as it has brought an improvement to everyone in the community. It brought respect and dignity. Before, people didn’t come to Macambira, there was prejudice against our people. But, through the museum, they began to recognize our history and our culture. This made our trajectory be seen not only by the local public, but also more broadly. For a community that was not seen before, receiving more than 6 thousand people in the last year is a source of great pride. We are very grateful to the museum and the work that Aliança has done in building this space telling our story.”
The initiative consists of a set of actions by the Aliança Energia aimed at culture, education and strengthening of traditional communities, and is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with emphasis on SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10 – Reduction of Inequalities and SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.

With this advance, Aliança Energia reinforces its work aimed at preserving memory, valuing quilombola identity and expanding access to culture and education in the region, contributing to the Macambira Museum remaining as a reference space for the community and educational institutions.
