Between May 19 and 24, representatives of the Macambira Quilombola Museum, located in the vicinity of the Acauã Wind Complex (RN) and sponsored by Aliança Energia via the Culture Incentive Law, participated in the 6th National Web of Climate Justice and Culture Points, held in Aracruz (ES).
Present were Vilmário Cândido, president of the Association of the Quilombola Community of Macambira; Edinalva Francisca, project coordinator; Francinilda Silva, monitor; and Raimundo Melo, general coordinator of the institution. The group brought to the meeting the community’s experience in preserving quilombola memory and local culture.
For Joseane Debortoli, coordinator of Community Relations and Social Innovation at Aliança Energia, the Museum’s participation in a nationwide event highlights the results of the quilombola community’s investment in culture.
“The participation of the Quilombola Museum of Macambira demonstrates how investment in culture can strengthen identities, expand opportunities and give visibility to the stories that are part of the construction of our territories. Seeing the community proud of itself is a source of pride for all of us.”
During the program, the group integrated tables and debates on the strengthening of popular cultures and the protagonism of traditional communities, in addition to publicizing the Museum’s actions. He also participated in activities of the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM), in dialogue with President Fernanda Castro, when he presented the book produced by the Museum, officially launched during the Web.

According to Vilmário Cândido, president of the Macambira Quilombola Community Association, the meeting was an opportunity for learning and exchange.
“It was very important to participate in the 6th National Web because we learned a lot from other communities, memory points and museums across the country. We had the opportunity to share our achievements, understand similar challenges and disseminate our booklet, launched during the event.”
For Aliança Energia, this sponsorship reaffirms the Quilombola Museum of Macambira as a space for the preservation and dissemination of quilombola memory, in addition to highlighting the importance of institutional partnerships and continuous investment in culture as an instrument of social transformation.
