Aliança Energia acts on Abrage’s strategic agenda and contributes to the advancement of communication in the operation of reservoirs

In May, Aliança Energia participated in a strategic agenda promoted by Abrage – Brazilian Association of Electric Energy Generating Companies, which brought together central agents in the electricity sector to address an increasingly critical issue: communication in the operation of hydroelectric reservoirs. Employees Pâmera Mattos, from Communication, and Carlos Dario, from the O&M area, represented the company at the event, ensuring the integrated presence between the technical and institutional dimensions of the theme.

The meeting was structured as a space for technical and institutional alignment, with the participation of representatives of ANEEL, ANA and ONS, as well as member companies, and combined different fronts: launch of sectoral guidelines, debates with the press, institutional presentations and sharing of practical experiences among generation agents.

In this context, the Guide for the preparation of the Operational Communication Plan for Hydroelectric Reservoirs (PCORH) was launched, one of the milestones on the agenda, but not its only axis. The guide consolidates important guidelines for the sector, but it is the result of a broader movement of coordination and collective maturation on the subject.

Aliança Energia’s performance in this process took place in a concrete way. In addition to participating in the agenda and discussions with different agents, the company contributed to the construction of the guide, reinforcing its role in a topic that connects operation, security, risk management and reputation.

According to Carlos Miranda, “the launch of the Communication Plan for the Operation of Hydroelectric Reservoirs by Abrage reflects this urgency in the current Brazilian scenario. This interaction between agents is very important. At the event, we had contact with different perspectives on the same topic, which expands our understanding of the subject. In crisis management, clear communication saves lives just as much as good engineering.”

Over the two days, the agenda made it clear that the communication of the operation of reservoirs has evolved from a support practice to a structuring component of the sector’s management. The discussions brought three main drivers, which now guide the expected level of demand:

  • Greater transparency in the relationship with society and authorities
  • Agility in responding to critical operational situations
  • Alignment between agents to avoid noise and information inconsistency

The contributions of regulatory bodies and system operators reinforced this scenario, bringing a convergent reading on the need for integration between technical and communication areas, especially in crisis contexts.

The second day deepened this perspective through the presentation of case studies of companies in the sector, showing how different approaches have been applied in practice and what the real implementation challenges are.

For Aliança Energia, this agenda raises the reference level. The movement observed, materialized in the guide and in the discussions, increases the level of demand on how the company structures its communication on operational topics.

In practice, this translates into three clear evolution fronts for the company:

  • More consistent integration between operation and communication
  • Definition of more robust protocols for critical scenarios
  • Strengthening relationships with communities, the press, and authorities

More than just an event, it was a space of alignment that signals the direction of the sector, which requires proportional action from companies, with views on where the sector is headed, and which requires proportional action from companies. Aliança Energia’s participation in this context is not only institutional, but part of the construction of this advance.

The agenda ended with a visit to the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency (ANA), held at the invitation of Joaquim Gondim, superintendent of Operations and Critical Events of the Agency, further expanding the technical level of the meeting. On the occasion, representatives of Aliança Energia had access to ANA’s Situation Room (“Crisis Room”), a national reference in hydrological monitoring and management of critical events. The experience deepened the company’s understanding of integrated communication practices in crisis scenarios, connecting, in practice, operation, information and decision-making in real time.
